TWMXRS West Coast Open | Round Three | LACR

Round three of the 2017 TWMXRS West Coast Open, presented by SPY, has officially come to a close. We traveled up to Palmdale, California to LACR MX, where hundreds of riders gathered for a fun day at the races, as the facility’s sandy corners and challenging jumps made for another great day of racing. Though not all of the fun was on the track, as Vendor Row was full of great deals on parts and apparel thanks to SPY, Spectro Oils, and MTA Distributing.
At each round of the TWMXRS, one lucky rider is awarded with the “SPY Breakaway Rider” award, and at round three Blake Gardner out of Acton, CA was the recipient. Despite feeling a little under the weather, the 13-year old swept Open 85-150F/Supermini with two moto wins, snagged the overall in 12-13 years 85/150F, and hung it out with the big bikes in School Boy(125/250F) to finish third overall. Gardner’s day obviously started off a little rough since he was still feeling sick, but after some rest in between motos he ended the day with two overall wins and a pretty rad award courtesy of SPY. Congratulations, Blake!
Daniel Vanderziel put on one dominating performance in Pro 450F class! The Yamaha rider seemed to gap the rest of the field immediately after moving into the lead in each of his motos. After suffering a collapsed lung just over six months ago, we hadn’t seen Daniel out at the races for some time, so it was great to see him back on the bike and winning races.
Yes, we’ve mentioned him before, and we are going to mention him again. Dylan Gaszak has put in some very impressive rides at the last few rounds of the 2017 TWMXRS West Coast Open, and it continued at round 3 as he dominated School Boy (125/250F) and Intermediate 250F. Although he grabbed an impressive four moto wins, the highlight of Gaszak’s day came in moto two of Intermediate 250F when he not only took first in his class, but when he finished ahead of the riders in Pro 250F. We have said it before and we will say it again, watch out for this kid!
Levi Herriges was ripping it up on the “Amateur” track! Despite a stacked field in PW/XR50 Intro 4-8yrs, Levi managed to grab the overall with two second place finishes. With only three gears on his XR50, this youngster was wide-open seemingly everywhere on the track, and he was awarded with a first place trophy.
Thanks to everyone who joined us at LACR MX for the third round of the TWMXRS West Coast Open, presented by SPY. Don’t forget to mark your calendars for round four, which is slated to be held at Cahuilla Creek on May 21st. See you there!
