Ryan Dungey Retires From Professional Motocross
After months of speculation, Ryan Dungey has confirmed the decision to end his professional motocross racing career. The news came at a special press conference held at Angels Stadium of Anaheim, with Dungey and other members of the Red Bull KTM team addressing the assembled media with a speech and statements that celebrated the multi-time champion’s accomplishments.
This comes in the short break between the 2017 Monster Energy Supercross Series and the 2017 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship. With this, the newly crowned Supercross champion will not line up for the twelve-round series that is set to start this Saturday afternoon.
During the conference, Dungey stated that the past year was an incredible challenge and that the challenges to prepare off of the track were at times more difficult than the training or racing. Coincidentally, the decision to either end or continue his career started around last year’s round of racing in Lakewood, Colorado, just prior to Dungey’s season-ending neck injury.
