In between races, we took some time to browse our hard drives and look at photos taken throughout the year. We'll highlight each shot in a daily post, with the image sized to fit your computer screen or smartphone and described with a small backstory…
When traveling to another country for a race, half of the fun is soaking in as much of the culture and sights as you can before the actual event. Coming into England, we had a few days to hang out and filled one with a visit to Mel Pocock’s beautiful property located in South Essex, England. Mel was super hospitable, and had been hosting Team USA’s captain and long-time friend/old teammate Zach Osborne out at his place for his stay. I had never met Mel prior, and he’s one of the nicest racers out there. After seeing the scars on his hand and hearing what he overcame to ride again after a horrific crash back in 2015 (he lost most of his thumb and almost his whole hand – google it), his speed out on the track is even more impressive. Thanks for the solid day, Mel – next time I’m bringing riding gear!
