In between races, we took some time to browse our hard drives and look at photos taken throughout the year. We’ll highlight each shot in a daily post, with the image sized to fit your computer screen or smartphone and described with a small backstory…

Today’s “Photo of the Day” presented by O’Neal brings your attention to one of the many unsung heroes on any given weekend. A race mechanic’s job is high pressure stuff, and these guys live every moment of race day with an intensity most don’t get to witness. During any given moto or main event you’ll find guys like Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Olly Stone (shown here) leaning so far out to cheer on Austin Forkner that it almost looks like someone should be holding his legs. I love shooting moments like these; pure dedication and heart, an integral part of the race process. Next time you attend an event take a look at these guys during a moto and be sure to give them a high five!
