What a weekend. We’re already a bit delayed at getting this up (meetings and other pressing matters got in the way) so let’s just get to the very gritty details of the 2017 Spring Creek MX, round eight of the 2017 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship.

– This might be one of the toughest races that we’ve seen in a while, because a racer’s every skill was put to the test. Battle through a high-speed section? There was some of that. Coast downhill through two-foot ruts with the engine barely running? There was some of that, too. We really enjoy watching the minute to minute changes that riders have to make to their riding styles in order to get around a track.

– We’re wondering when teams will take delivery of new bikes, just like the rest of you. RCH said that they won’t race a new RM-Z450 before the end of the summer and we have to assume the same goes for JGR. Team Honda HRC already has electric start as a standard piece on their bikes, so that makes the 2018 almost unnecessary. And KTM won’t announce a new Factory Edition for 2018 until way later in the year.

– Be on the hunt for new gear and goggles in the photos below. There’s a lot of it to see.

– Sounds like the usual Monster Energy-backed teams and riders are in for the MXGP in Florida at the end of the summer. This includes Monster Energy Kawasaki, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki, AutoTrader.com/Monster Energy/Toyota/JGRMX/Suzuki, and Monster Energy/Yamalube/Chaparral/Yamaha Financial Services/Yamaha. We don’t know of too many riders outside of this list to join, despite the fact that their team rigs will be on hand to support their European counterparts.

– MXON news? Sounds like Dylan Ferrandis has been hit up by Team France, along with Marvin Musquin. Still no confirmation on Dean Wilson for Team Great Britain, and Roger DeCoster made mention that the roster for Team USA is still very uncertain.

– We’ll have a silly season update later this week. There are a lot of moving pieces to account for this year, but will every detail be worked out in time?

– USADA officials were on hand to collect urine samples from podium finishers and other random racers after the second motos, in accordance with the series decision to have the association oversee the drug testing process. These results will be made official months from now.

– Congratulations to Shane McElrath and Justin Barcia for proposing to their girlfriends over the off weekend between Southwick and Spring Creek.
