With this weekend’s 2017 SLAM Fest fast approaching, we thought it would be fun to dive into what to expect and also reminisce of last year’s fun. Taking place at Milestone MX, there are a handful of reasons to come out and join the fun. Allow us to fill you in…
FRIDAY: The weekend kicks off early for us on Friday with our TWMX Industry Cup, which is a highlight for all the desk jockeys that we know within the moto industry. The track is closed to the public for this race, but if you are working within the motocross industry you can reach out and sign up to join the fun – EMAIL US to learn more!
SATURDAY: SLAM Fest begins! Gates will open at 8 am to the public with FREE entry to the public, and this includes open practice from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm! Bring your family, bring your bikes, and ride all day before all the pro action starts. To add to the fun, ALTA Motors will be on hand with Redshift Demo bikes for anyone that’s been itching to try out their electric motocross machines. Another huge bonus is the recent addition of Maxima donating their oil for services SLAM Fest riders. John Burr is doing the service on a free oil change for most makes and models – find them on Saturday! When open practice concludes at 4 pm, the track crews will re-prep the track for our Pro SLAM Fest Race!
To switch things up this year, we changed up the format of the racing to a pair of five-lap motos with the top ten pros that have qualified via timed qualifying. Ten riders, two motos, and $10,000 of money to be handed out to the top three riders. That’s $5,000 to win, $3,000 for second, and $2,000 for third – not a bad payday for a day’s work! The track this year is a hybrid of motocross with some pro sections added in, you will not want to miss this. Riders like Darryn Durham, Tyler Bowers, Adam Enticknap, Nick Schmidt, and many more are already confirmed, and we assume more will come out of the woodwork knowing the money that’s on the line.
After the grand finale of the SLAM Pro Race, attention will turn to the Hooligan Flat Track racing with Rusty Butcher and the Hell on Wheels crew. This is a new addition to the day and one that will be a highlight for sure. If you want to have fun with motorcycles, the Hell on Wheels crew is the answer and you’ll want to check this one out.
