Dean Ferris to Race High Point

Current Australian Motocross Nationals MX1 points leader Dean Ferris has confirmed to MotoOnline.com.au that he will race round four of Lucas Oil Pro Motocross at High Point on June 17. Following round five of the series this weekend at Murray Bridge MX, the championship will take a five-week break.

“I wanted to do something in this five-week break and it was always my intention,” Ferris told MotoOnline.com.au. “I decided a few weeks ago that I’d like to give the AMA a crack in the outdoors.

“I looked at all of the races feasible for me to compete during the break and Mt. Morris worked out the best option because it gives me time before and after to ensure that I can stay on top of my game here. I have always wanted to race an AMA National and this allows me to do so whilst enjoying the small break in our domestic calendar.”

Ferris competed in the U.S. in 2014 with Red Bull KTM in the 250 Class, but his season was derailed by injuries. After a stop in the FIM Motocross World Championship with Husqvarna, Ferris returned home to Australia where he won the MX1 title in 2016.

According to MotoOnline.com.au, Ferris will ride his own CDR Yamaha and pit alongside CycleTrader.com/Rock River Yamaha. High Point will mark the 27-year-old's first 450 race in the U.S.
