Anthony Rodriguez Headed to Europe with Honda HRC
Currently without a ride for the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, former Yamalube/Star Racing Yamaha rider Anthony Rodriguez will get a crack at the FIM Motocross World Championship.
Honda HRC today confirmed an earlier report by Racer X’s Steve Matthes that Rodriguez will fill-in for Chihiro Notsuka on the MX2 team beginning this weekend at the MXGP of Lombardia in Italy.
After spending his first three seasons as a professional with Star Racing and Traders Racing, the Venezuela born Rodriguez raced the Monster Energy Supercross 250SX East Region under a privateer effort. He finished ninth in points behind six top-10 finishes.
In the announcement, HRC confirmed that Rodriguez will race this weekend and the following weekend at the MXGP of Portugal at Agueda.
“I am just so happy to have been given this opportunity to race for HRC in the MXGP series,” he said in a statement. “I have been in Europe over the last few weeks settling into it and I love the bike and the team are professional and easy to work with. I can’t wait to see what the future holds heading into my first round this weekend. I am so excited.”
