Zach Osborne's Day at Budds Creek MX 2017
At Budds Creek Motocross Park, the 11th round of the 2017 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship, we tracked Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s Zach Osborne through his day as he came into the 11th round of the championship with a chance to clinch his first ever 250 outdoor motocross championship. We will take you through Zach’s day from early morning arriving at the track to the late afternoon press conference after the event.
The track was considerably wet in the morning from the heavy rain storms that came through Friday night. This off-camber had only one main line that had a notch on the exit to the rut and all the riders stuck to this rut or they lost time in the sloppy outer ruts.
Zach turned his fast lap of 2:10.971 on lap 4 as the track got some better lines as the laps clicked off. He almost duplicated his best time on lap 6 with a time of 2:10.975 which was his 2nd best time.
Eleven years after his pro debut at Budds, when Zach went from a holeshot and faded back to 18th place, Zach gets redemption by winning his first outdoor championship.
Zach later revealed during the press conference that he had to deal with some adverse family issues during the championship run as he found out on Father's Day that he would become a dad again, but unfortunately Britney had a miscarriage the week before Millville. Zach said that the championship run has been more of a personal battle for both of them as they had to lean on each other to work though their personal battle and then battle for a championship on the weekends.
The 30 year old Zach Osborne scratched and clawed his way back to the top step on the podium and now has shown everyone that hard work can pay off. Zach revealed at the press conference that next year he will defend his SX championship in the 250 class then move up to the 450 for the outdoor Championship next summer.
