The twelfth and final round of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championships at Ironman Raceway in Indiana was not without its excitement. For the first time in many years, the 450 class Championship wasn’t decided until this race, although all Eli Tomac had to do was basically keep his bike on two wheels and the Championship was his for the taking. But he has been known to get a little tight in close situations, and with the addition of World Champion Jeffrey Herlings thrown into the mix, nobody was sure if he was there for KTM to help Marvin Musquin somehow sneak out a title, or if he was just there to race. Fortunately for Eli, Herlings was there to race, and that he did. In the first moto he gave an old-fashioned beat down on the American, leading from start to finish. To add insult to injury, he started from last in the second moto only to pass the entire field to win again. Was Eli giving everything he had and was Herlins that much better, or was he riding smart and winning and guaranteeing Monster Energy Kawasaki their first championship since Ryan Villopoto rode for them? In the 250 class, Zach Osborne wasn’t finished yet, he wanted to get his team The Manufacturers Cup trophy, and that he did winning both motos convincingly.
