Event Coverage & Photos from the Opening Round of the El Dorado series
TWMXRS El Dorado Series | Round One | Glen Helen Raceway
The first TWMXRS event of 2019 is in the books, as round one of the El Dorado series, presented by AMSOIL, took place at the iconic Glen Helen Raceway, this past Sunday. After a month long break since the last TWMX race, we were eager as ever to get the 2019 race season started. Just days before racing kicked off, Southern California was welcomed with the first rain storm of the new year, which made for some excellent track conditions at Glen Helen. As the San Bernardino facility’s gate opened Sunday morning, nearly 400 racers funneled through and prepared to go racing. With two exciting courses prepped to perfection and excellent weather, the first round of the 2019 TWMX El Dorado series, presented by AMSOIL, was one for the books.
With a talented turnout at round one of the El Dorado series, presented by AMSOIL, many riders stood out with eye-catching performances. One of those riders being Blake Gardner, who caught our attention after putting together an impressive ride aboard a 85cc in not only the Supermini class, but also in both the Novice 250F and School Boy (125-250F) classes. The kid out of Acton, CA dominated the Open 85-150F/Supermini class with two moto wins, and then took on the big bikes aboard his 85cc in the Novice 250F and School Boy class. After snagging the win in the second moto of each big-bike class, Blake took home three impressive overall class wins. Well done, Blake!
Along with many familiar faces, the TWMXRS welcomed some new racers to the series at the opening round of the El Dorado series. Todd Sibell made his first TWMXRS appearance known, as he swept both classes he entered. The ripper out of San Bernardino, CA took home the win in each of his four moto's, even after a small mistake in an early moto left him in the back of the pack, Todd was able to charge to the front and finish on top. After having left such an impression in both the Open Non-Pro and Intermediate 450F classes, we are excited to see what more is to come from the talented rider at round two of the El Dorado series.
To go along with the impressive new-comer, we also saw some dominating performances from TWMXRS regular Jeff Loop, who has been a regular to the race series for many years. Though his speed and bike skills are always remarkable, Jeff showed his all-out racing intensity at the El Dorado series opener, as he swept both of his classes with ease. We can’t say it with certainty, but we believe we saw Jeff out front in each lap of his four moto's. When the dust settled and the intense race day wound to an end, Jeff Loop left Glen Helen with two more overall class wins.
Along with a handful of other new sponsors to the Transworld Motocross Race Series for 2019, Amsoil has hopped onboard in a huge way. In fact, the premium brand was on-hand at the El Dorado series opener. Racers and spectators were able to stop by the Amsoil booth for all their synthetic lubricant and oil needs. Thanks for coming out, Amsoil!
