Young style on a classic two-stroke. Talon Hawkins gets it.
In between races, we took some time to browse our hard drives and look at photos taken throughout the year. We'll highlight each shot in a daily post, with the image sized to fit your computer screen or smartphone and described with a small backstory…
Some kids just get it, and Southern Californian Talon Hawkins is one of them. If you’ve attended any of the major amateur events around the California area and beyond, chances are you’ve seen the smiling young ripper with a number 71 on his bike throwing down in the mini classes. The difference with Talon is his carefree attitude, cool style, and raw approach to the sport – and it doesn’t go unnoticed. Last weekend at Day In The Dirt 20 he hopped on this vintage two-stroke and sent it around the track at speeds greater than the bike was built for while sporting a proper open face helmet and it was really fun to watch. This frame was exceptional from my point of view because I caught the sun beaming off the mirror onto his eyes and it really pops in the photo. I reckon’ you’ll be seeing a lot more of this youngin’ around in the coming years.
