In between races, we took some time to browse our hard drives and look at photos taken throughout the year. We'll highlight each shot in a daily post, with the image sized to fit your computer screen or smartphone and described with a small backstory…
Although he hasn't lined up for a Lucas Oil Pro Motocross National since 2015, the past couple months have felt a little empty without Australia's Chad Reed, and the same goes for last weekend's 2017 Monster Energy Cup, as he opted to sit the $1 million race out. The real reason behind the #22's absence as of late, though, is that he's been struggling for some time to find a ride for the 2018 season. Yes, Chad Reed – 2x Supercross champion – still doesn't have a ride for next year! I don't think I ever would have imagined Reed struggling to obtain a ride, and unfortunately this sort of thing seems to be occurring more and more often, as earlier this year Dean Wilson entered the 2017 Monster Energy Supercross Series as a privateer, and now Justin Barcia is the newest top-tier athlete without a ride for 2018.
It's a new age for Supercross/motocross racing, as it's an ever-evolving sport, but one thing for sure, though, is that I'm looking forward to seeing Reed defend his 2016 Aus-X Open Championship. Following the one-off SX race in Australia, though, the future remains unclear for Reed, so only time will tell what lies ahead for the SX veteran.
