2019 Anaheim One Supercross | Bell Helmets Race Report | Transworld Motocross
Anaheim, CA – 1/05/19: Congrats to Colt Nichols as he took the overall win in the 250SX West class this weekend at Round One of the Monster Energy Supercross.
Round One is always a question about who will have the complete package and grab the top spot on the podium. But, as they say, you can’t win the championship at the first race, but you can definitely lose it.
Eli Tomac rode a series of smart Qualifiers and Heat race and then took the third spot on the podium in the Main.
It took Cooper Webb a bit of time to find his mojo. A 7th in Qualifiers and a 9th in his Heat race were not the finishes Webb was looking for. And… crashing in the first turn of the Main wasn’t in his playbook either, but after picking his bike up in almost last place, Webb put in an impressive set of laps, turning the fastest lap of the night to finish 5th overall.
This was Colt Nichols’ first overall win in Supercross. Nichols was 5th in the Qualifiers but posted the fastest Main event lap times – leading every lap – and put his Moto-9 Flex on top of the podium. Great ride Colt!
Dylan Ferrandis took the 2nd spot on the 250SX West podium behind his teammate Nichols – making a powerful statement for the Monster Energy/Yamalube team. All team members wear the Bell Moto-9 Flex.
Adam Cianciarulo started out with the fastest Qualifier time and won his Heat race. But in the Main, an altercation with another rider relegated his finish to 5th overall on the night.
Right behind Cianciarulo was Garrett Marchbanks taking 6th overall in the 250SXW division.
The Dakar Rally started this week and takes place in the country of Peru. There will be a total of ten stages with one rest day in the middle. Bell Helmets athletes, Toby Price and Sam Sunderland, are both previous winners of this event. Sunderland took the overall in 2017 with Price capturing the win in 2016. Both riders, who rely on the Bell Moto-9 Flex, are considered serious contenders for the 2019 title.
EXTREME INDOOR ENDURO
Factory KTM and Bell Helmets’ sponsored athlete, Cody Webb, won the Germany round of the FIM SuperEnduro Championship by posting 1-1-3 Moto finishes. Webb has now moved into the championship points lead.
AMATEUR FLAT TRACK
Mason Nockert is one of Bell Helmets’ up-and-coming amateur stars. He ended 2018 with a series of 3rd place finishes at the Ethan Gilliam memorial race in Du Quoin, Illinois. Mason raced his Yamaha PW50 in both Short Track and TT. Good job Mason, see you in 2019!
MEET THE MOTO-9 FLEX
The Moto-9 Flex is the most advanced helmet we've ever made, designed to manage linear and rotational energy to the head in certain low, mid, and high-speed impacts. The Moto-9 Flex is quickly setting a new level for rider protection in motocross and off-road racing.
