The progression of freestyle motocross continued at the 2018 Nitro World Games, with competitors in the two categories of FMX Best Trick and FMX Quarterpipe debuted new moves and reached new heights at the Utah Motorsports Campus. The extension of Pat Bowden’s massive Christ Air backflip and solid landing put the Australian at the top of the field in FMX Best Trick, as pre-event favorites Harry Bink and Josh Sheehan crashed in their trick attempts (Bink tried a lazy boy front flip and was unable to land it in his two jumps, while Sheehan over-rotated in the first attempt of his Superman double backflip but was able to stick the landing in a second attempt). In FMX Quarterpipe, X Games gold medalists Colby Raha and Axell Hodges went back and forth in a game of inches off of the massive ramp. The two Southern California riders were close in height during round two, but Raha managed to step up to 45 feet 2 inches in the final round and bested Hodges.
