While leading the 450 LCQ at the 2018 Anaheim One Supercross, Benny Bloss made a mistake while jumping through a rhythm section and landed front-wheel first on an obstacle, which sent the Rocky Mountain ATV-MC/WPS/KTM rider into a tumble that ended with an impact with another obstacle. Bloss managed to get off of the race track quickly but was soon tended to by the Alpinestars Mobile Medical Unit team. Because of the crash and failure to finish the race, Bloss was done for the evening.
In a post on their Instagram social media account, the Rocky Mountain ATV-MC/WPS/KTM team stated that Bloss bruised both lungs and fractured his sternum in the crash. Although the injury will not require surgery or hospitalization, it’s unclear how soon Bloss will able to return to action in the 2018 Monster Energy Supercross Series. This is the second lung injury Bloss has suffered in less than six months, as his preseason training was halted by a practice crash that resulted in a collapsed and bruised lung.
