THE BOOGALOO is a Class 1 pedal-assist mountain bikes (eMTB) event presented by Troy Lee Designs & Bosch eBike Systems with the first round being at the Mammoth Mountain Bike Park as part of the Kamikaze Bike Games held on September 14 – 17, 2017. The race will be held Saturday September 16th, 2017 on a course specifically designed for eMTB racers. Expect near vertical ascents, killer drops, obstacles, berms, and more that will take you and your eMTB to the limits of what you thought possible on two wheels. Racers will be divided into qualifying heats, then a final heat. If racing isn't in your blood you have the opportunity to participate in a free demo on a Class 1 eMTB from as many as five different brand manufacturers.
"We've doubled the size of the BOOGALOO this year by adding a 'Race of Champions'-style Amateur class where each rider gets decked out with TLD racing gear and top-of-the-line pedal-assist e-mountain bikes from some great brands," said Bill Cockroft, Senior Vice-President of Mammoth Mountain Ski Area. "So far the response we're seeing from the racing community and bike manufacturers towards this race series is really encouraging."
"We're thrilled to be working alongside partners like Troy Lee Designs, Mammoth Mountain, Bulls Bikes, Haibike, Raleigh Electric, Specialized, Trek, Transworld Motocross, Electric Bike Action, and PPG to pull this off," said Claudia Wasko, General Manager of Bosch eBike Systems Americas. "This year, we've also added an eMTB demo course for all the friends and family supporting Kamikaze Bike Games athletes to try one out. Nothing like a little electric tailwind to keep up with the racer in your life."
FREE demos will be available before and after the race on a custom built course suited for beginner riders near the Canyon Lodge September 15-17. Bikes from Raleigh Electric, Haibike, Bulls Bikes, Specialized and Trek will be on hand with representatives from each brand to set up and educate riders on Class 1 eMTB riding.
Friday 9/15/17 – 9am – 5pm
Saturday 9/16/17 – 9am – 12pm
Sunday 9/17/17 – 9am – 2pm

"Competition's going to be fierce this year with the larger $3k purse and dedicated invite-only pro-class. We'll see if Victor can keep his title amidst a field of legends like Dave Cullinan, Cam Zink, Ryan Hughes and more!
Class 1 is a specific classification for sustainable use on any trail, path or riding area. Class 1 eMTB models are defined as "a bicycle with fully operable pedals, and an electric motor under 750 Watts peak power that must be pedaled to activate the motor and that ceases to provide power above 20 mph".
The Amateur class is limited to just 32 racers ($60 per rider) and PRE REGISTRATION is open now. The Pro Class ($60 per rider) is limited to a special invite for just 24 racers. The Pro purse for this event is $3,000 and will break down payoffs to the top five finishers. First place gets $1,000, second place gets $850, third $600, fourth $400 and fifth $200. All Pro racers also get to keep an A1 custom BOOGALOO helmet and the top five finishers take home a Bosch power drill. Amateur racers will receive factory treatment from the ebike manufactures who will provide eMTB's for participants to race on. Racers also take home custom products such as a BOOGALOO A1 helmet with custom graphics, collector race bibs, race number plate, front fender, event t-shirt and more goodies from the sponsors. The top five finishers will also receive a Bosch power drill.
