GEICO Honda’s Christian Craig announced on Instagram yesterday that he underwent a second surgery on his thumb over the weekend.
In December Craig sustained a Bennett fracture (a common fracture of the thumb) while preparing for the 2019 Monster Energy AMA Supercross season. The injury required surgery.
Despite only getting back on the bike a few days prior to the 250SX East Region opener in Minneapolis on February 9, Craig tried to race, but struggled to a 20th place finish. After the race he announced he would miss time to let his thumb heal properly.
According to his Instagram post, Craig had a CT scan done last Monday which reveled he had dislocated his thumb again.
Craig said he’ll be back not he bike in a couple weeks “with a solid thumb that’s not going anywhere.” There is no timetable on a return at this time.
