Austin Forkner Day To Day With Knee Injury

Austin Forkner
Metlife Stadium East Rutherford, NJ East Rutherford Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship

Entering Nashville, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Austin Forkner had dominated the 250SX East Region. Forkner had won five of six rounds (and every 250SX East Region-only round) and built a 26-point lead over GEICO Honda’s Chase Sexton with just three rounds remaining.

During Saturday’s qualifying session, Forkner watched his lead wash away. Forkner, who’s had a number of crashes in qualifying this year but has managed to walk away, went down hard in the whoops section and injured his knee. He later tried to attempt to ride the final session but pulled off in noticeable pain.

Forkner was unable to line up for the night show and after Sexton finished second in the main event, Forkner's points lead is just three. If there is a silver lining in all of this, it’s that the East Region is on a two-week break (this weekend's Denver race is West Region and then the series takes off the following weekend for Easter).

We reached out to Kawasaki today for an update on Forkner’s condition and they said it is, "Too soon say. Taking it day to day and hopes to return asap.”

So, we wait. There are still 17 days between today and the next East Region round in East Rutherford on April 27, so don’t expect a quick decision regarding his status.
