Klim Introduces All-New Badlands And Artemis Gear Sets
Klim has a reputation for creating bulletproof motorcycle gear, especially in the adventure bike space. But the original Badlands jacket and pants is about five years old and hasn’t changed much over that time. For 2018 Klim decided it was time to completely redo the Badlands while also introducing the Artemis jacket and pant for the female adventure riders and dual-sporters.
One of the biggest changes is the D3O protection. At the gear intro, Klim explained it had an independent lab conduct tests on all the available armor options and D3O still performed the best. But it wasn’t just off-the-shelf D3O pieces—Klim worked with D3O directly to create the Klim D3O Aero Pro armor pieces. What makes this armor different is that it still passes CE Level 2 testing while ventilating five times better, with 44 percent more coverage, than D3O’s past armor pieces. Pretty impressive.
Klim also rethought the placement of its Superfabric, which is an extreme abrasion fabric impregnated with ceramic beads making it both super tough and flexible. There is still the borderline magical Gore-Tex three-layer Pro shell that can let water vapor out without letting water droplets in. Plus, all the zippers and vents have been rearranged to make them easier and simpler to use without needing to dislocate your shoulder.
Overall, the new Badlands and Artemis jacket and pant combos look cool and carry on the tradition of the “One suit for every ride” whether it be crazy hot or wet and cold.
