From Ohio, I made my way up to Buffalo, NY to pick up Jeff Watts. After a quick stop by Niagara Falls, we made our way over to meet up with Bub Crumlish at the Union Trails. Bub linked us up with his buddy John from Rochester, who helped us out by setting up a session with one of the biggest crews so far on my trip. From Rochester, we made our way up into the Adirondacks to hit up the trail Poor Man’s Downhill before making our way to Vermont.
Vermont is the 24th state I hit, and marks the halfway point of my road trip. From New York, Jeff Watts and I took an early morning ferry ride across Lake Champlain and pinned it straight for the Kingdom Trails in East Burke. This is a place we were both really looking forward to riding and it definitely didn’t disappoint.
Sunday River bike park was closed for the season when we arrived, but after a quick talk with the bike park manager we got permission to explore the mountain. The conditions were freezing and wet but we made the best of it. From there we took a solid rest day and got the chance to check out the coast near Cape Elizabeth before hitting our final stop on some fun technical trails in the town of Turner.
Jeff and I made our way from Turner, ME into North Conway in New Hampshire to rip down a trail we heard about called Parking Lot Smoothie. After a lap down the mountain we headed to Highland Mountain Bike Park to finish off Jeff’s time with me on the road trip.
