Eurobike 2018: Pipedream has a new titanium Moxie

0
...

UK brand Pipedream Cycles brought out the Moxie hardcore hardtail just under a year ago, which wowed onlookers at Eurobike with its hyper-pink paint job and uber long geometry. Long as in, 510mm reach long. Yup.

The current Moxie is made with a Reynolds/4130 steel frame, but it looks like Pipedream is going to expand its offerings with a lighter titanium version. At Eurobike this year, we spotted this new titanium frame on the Funn booth, which has been decked out with a 140mm travel DVO Diamond Boost fork, 29er tyres from Terrene, the uber-exotic Trickstuff Direttissima 4-piston disc brakes, and a smattering of new Funn components – including that clever dropper post.

Pipedream Cycles has got a titanium version of the Moxie in the works. This one is 1/20 in the world right now.

The geometry of the titanium Moxie is the same as the steel one, though you’ll notice that this frame gets a fixed rear dropout, rather than the horizontal sliding version found on the steel Moxie. According to Dominic of Funn Components – the owner of this custom-built bike – that’s because the Ti version has been purpose built around 29in wheels. You can still fit 27.5+ wheels and tyres into the back end, but there is no physical adjustability in the chainstay length to tweak the fit.

Likewise, the frame will accommodate a 160mm travel 27.5in fork, though Dom is running his in 29in mode with a 140mm travel fork that delivers a 65.5° head angle.

A solid titanium plate is used for the chainstay yoke. How’s the welding quality on here? Schmick!

The Moxie titanium is made as a tough do-it-all hardcore hardtail. The geo looks really good on this.
