The 2019 Absa Cape Epic starts today with the prologue stage in Cape Town. Taking place around the iconic Table Mountain the short first day of racing will allow riders to get up to speed ready for the days ahead. The 21-kilometre course featuring 600 metres of climbing is the perfect opportunity for racers to find out who will be the strongest competitors for the following stages. At the 16-kilometre mark riders will be faced will the first Land Rover Technical Terrain challenge of the event. This short section of trail will test riders skill and ability to tackle more challenging terrain. Today's technical terrain is located on the Plum Pudding singletrack but each day will feature a different challenge that riders will have to face. After finishing today's short prologue riders will face seven more days of grueling endurance racing with thousands of metres of climbing across hundreds of kilometres.Check out the teaser for this year's event below.
