Do you wear a Lazer helmet? Check your head.
Lazer, a Belgian helmet company owned by Shimano, has issued a recall for its Blade, Magma, Elle and Jade bicycle helmets sold since January 2015. Helmets typically have a wear-life of 4-5 years, not including the one-crash rule, so if you bought your helmet during the earlier part of this recall window, you are likely due for a new one anyway.
The helmets have CEN or CPSC stickers inside but do not meet the strap strength requirements of the standard, and strap anchors can potentially pull out. Lazer says they are not aware of any incidents or injuries that have resulted from this defect, but are voluntarily recalling all products affected.
Lazer is replacing the recalled helmets with Blade+ and Magma+ versions, with a redesigned strap anchor.
